Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday. FNCCI President Kush Kumar Joshi and NRNA President Devman Hirachan signed the MoU, with a view to assisting the NRNs in establishing their businesses in Nepal and the FNCCI in promoting Nepali goods abroad. The two sides vowed to work in tandem with the government and the private sector for the country’s economic development. During the singing ceremony, NRNA President Hirachan handed over to Joshi a cheque bearing Rs. 1 million meant for FNCCI’s skill development programme. The NRNA has already given Rs. 1.5 million to the FNCCI for the same programme.
Monthlong Fewa lake revival campaign
POKHARA: Tourism entrepreneurs, locals and government officials, coinciding with the 60th Democracy Day, initiated a monthlong campaign aimed at clearing the swampland around the Fewa Lake. Chief of the Western Regional Administration Arjun Bahadur Bhandari inaugurated the campaign, handing over the key of an excavator to Kaski Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Koirala. Swamp covers half of the lake spread in 1100 hectares due to muddy monsoon floods at the lake’s source--Harpan River--and disposal of sewage.
