Local residents in rural belt of Nawalparasi district have been facing difficulties to get banking services when the banks that were displaced during arm conflict in the country could not be reinstated even after the two years of peace agreement.
An Agricultural Development Bank based at Dedgaon, which had been providing services to 17 VDCs in the Northern belt of the district, was displaced due to security problem after 2001and villagers have been deprived of any banking services in the villages, said Man Bahadur Thada a local resident.
There is the crowd of government and non government banks, however, no bank is here to get banking facilities in the hilly villages. Neither private nor government sectors paid their attention to provide us banking services, said Kosh Raj Paudyal, a businessman at Bulintar.
“We have to visit a day long distant to Kawasoti from hilly villages for getting any banking facilities,” said Paudyal. Villagers have to risk their life while visiting such long distant carrying money in pocket, he said.
Locals of Bulingtar, Kotthar, Dandajheri, Arkhala, Jaubari, including other VDCs have to reach Kawasoti since 2001 AD for banking facilities after the displacement of the development bank.
