Addressing the 30th and 31st Annual General Meetings of the Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NGCCI), he said that it is necessary to further strengthen the long-term business partnership between Nepal and Germany and to take forward the ‘People to People Connection’ more effectively.

Minister Sinha highly appreciated the role played by NGCCI in promoting trade, investment, economic relations in the country and European countries, organizing trade fairs and connecting Nepali entrepreneurs to the international market with innovative thinking. He also expressed special appreciation for the significant contribution of the art and paintings presented by senior artist Mr. Kiran Manandhar and 11 other artists in promoting Nepal’s art, culture and nature.

At the event, German Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Udo Eugen Volz, said that he was excited to further expand business cooperation between Nepal and Germany. He expressed the view that the long-term friendly relations between the two countries can be further strengthened through economic partnership.

President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, pointed out the need to create an environment where the private sector can do free, transparent and healthy business. He mentioned that sustainable economic development is not possible without the active participation of the private sector.

President of NGCCI, Mr. Santosh Chandra Kunwar, stressed the necessity of making Nepal self-reliant in agricultural production. “Nepal needs a minimum of seven hundred thousand metric tons of urea fertilizer, but currently we are not able to import even three hundred thousand metric tons,” he said. He informed that a proposal to establish a fertilizer factory in Nepal by preparing a detailed project report (DPR) in collaboration with Germany has been submitted to the Investment Board, and pointed out the need for all stakeholders to jointly implement it.
